When Billy and I decided we were ready to have a baby, I never in a million years imagined we'd have troubles. Even though I know more couples who have had trouble than who haven't, I didn't think it would happen to us. Silly me.
We took the first year in stride, but then came the tests. The God-awful tests, including a hysterosalpingogram, a test I will never take again.
Despite being a really nice guy, my OBGYN didn't know what my dealio was, so I switched to Dr. Karnitis at the Fertility Center of Northwest Ohio. A quick look at my test results and Dr. Karnitis had a diagnosis and a plan - which worked!
After Dr. Karnitis was confident that the baby and I were going to be OK, he recommended that we switch to Dr. Bishop at Sunforest OBGYN Associates. From the first appointment, Dr. Bishop and I clicked; if he told me to jump off a bridge, I might have.
My pregnancy went great at first. But around month 7, I started having some issues. Dr. Bishop started getting concerned. Weekly, then twice-weekly non-stress tests were scheduled. Then bed rest. Then he sent me to the hospital for testing. Then I was induced, 3 weeks and 1 day early.
I was nervous, of course, but except for one night, never really scared. I knew that Dr. Bishop knew his stuff; Baby B. and I were in good hands. I owe both of these men a lifetime of my special M&M cookies.
