Every time I start an 'I'm Thankful' post, I wonder how many of you will think I'm silly. Well, maybe not me specifically, but the things on my list. I'm definitely thinking that now.
I love football. Some of my earliest memories are of watching Browns games with my parents, brother and various relatives. One of my earliest answers to 'What are you going to be when you grow up' might have been 'a football ref'. I was practicing my hand signals long before it was cool. (I really hope it's cool now.)
In high school, I was a football manager/statistician, an odd gig for a girl who hates math. That just goes to show you how much I looooved football. (To be honest, I really wanted to stay a manager, but no one else was brave enough to climb into the rickety scaffolding press booths where the statistician had to sit, so what can you do?)
Come August, I start counting the days until opening day - college, pro, it doesn't matter as long as it's good ol American football. (I'll even watch arena football when I'm desperate.) Come December, I start getting a bit sad, knowing that the season is almost over.
So, that's where I am now - a bit sad, knowing that the season is almost over - but still holding out hope that someone in power will decide football season should be as long as baseball season.
