Me and Halloween

I love Halloween. I love dressing up. Love watching scary movies. Love being scared. Love carving pumpkins. Love watching 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown'. Love. Love. Love.

I blame this love on my dad and the fact that he never let me (or my brother) participate in Halloween. That's right. No trick-or-treating. No costumes.

I was 20 and a junior in college before I ever dressed up for Halloween. (I was an Army chick.) The next year I was a belly dancer.

I've still never trick-or-treated, but I love handing out candy and seeing all the cute little kids dressed up. One year I saw a kid wearing an inflatable shark costume and was super jealous. We even have special candy bars for the neighbor kids and the kid we think was 'best dressed'.

I vow that when my baby is old enough, I'll take him or her trick-or-treating, he or she can be anything they want to be and they can eat candy until they pass out. We'll also watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' every year - until they're 18, then I'll probably have to go back to watching it by myself.

And yes, kids in costumes are the BEST!
