I Love Live Music

After a pretty successful evening at Read for Literacy's Amazing Race for Literacy, B., me and our friend G. set out to see my friend B. and his band The Top Heavies play at Trotter's. Can I just say how much I love live music?

Back in the day, I couldn't get enough live, local music. My roommates were in a band called Jaywalking; my friend and I were Big Creak groupies; the same friend and I loved the drummer from Trashcan Philosophers; I got to interview ekoostik hookah; and most recently, my friend M., who was in Jaywalking, played on Jimmy Kimmel Live with Gran Bel Fisher.

On a larger scale, I spend a good portion of my expendable income on concerts (Sawyer Brown and Tom Petty already planned for '08).

But, Saturday night was a good reminder that there's still good, local music to be heard. Even if I didn't know these guys, I'd be impressed. Next time they come around, check 'em out. In the meantime, let me know who you like locally so we can check them out.

I love local music. They seem more real and generous that watching people in a huge stadium.
