Reason 1,562,134 to Get Married in Las Vegas

When B. and I decided after 6 looooong years to get married, Las Vegas was our instant choice. We made a ton of plans, took along a bunch of friends and had a perfect day. Friends and family who didn't make it to Vegas watched the ceremony online and a few months later we had a reception. Bliss.

Since we've been together, we've gone to about 50 weddings and each time we are reminded why going to Vegas was perfect for us:
  • No candle-lighting ceremony
  • No reception line
  • No wedding party dance
  • No garter crap
  • No string quartets
  • No stress
  • No hurt feelings

Don't get me wrong, I love weddings (and have two to go to next year!), but it's not for me. Case in point, my friend D. (who got married last night) had 600 people show up to her reception (600!). How do you plan for that?

* The picture is of the chapel we got married in. Surprisingly untacky for Las Vegas.

I go back and forth about this. We had just over 400 at our wedding two years ago. As it probably would have been much, much easier for us to go to Vegas (and I know we would have had a blast!) I would have missed seeing everyone in the church, feeling the presence of my deceased grandparents there in the church i grew up in - I can't imagine feeling the same way in a chapel I'd never seen before.

I think they both have their pros and cons. But I wouldn't have changed my day for anything.

Good for you. I am a fan of this idea.

I think at the end of the day, if you and your sig. other are happy and you are getting married for the RIGHT reasons then that is all that matters!!!

I think it would be fun to do it in Vegas! We thought about that but very much enjoyed the way we did in a church, but we also did like the shortest Catholic wedding in history! No bells and whistles!

P.S. I don't think I even know 600 people! WOW!

The funny thing is I picture you loving to plan a huge wedding. You are like the creative goddess. Ha ha, see you at my wedding in luxurious Defiance Ohio
