Food Pyramid Challenge

Sunday, during a brief out-of-body experience brought on by the heat, M. and I decided to follow the U.S.D.A.'s Food Pyramid for one week.

We each entered our stats and got 'MyPyramid Plans', personal eating plans showing what and how much we need to eat to get to a healthier body weight.

Our breakdown:
  • 6 oz./day of grains
  • 2.5 cups/day of vegetables
  • 1.5 cups/day of fruits
  • 3 cups/day milk
  • 5 oz./day of meat/beans
We then planned every meal for seven days and went grocery shopping. (Grocery shopping when you are stocking up on fruits, veggies and whole grains is not fun, but we survived.)

We also survived our first day of following the Food Pyramid. Day 1 report to follow.
