1 Down; 6 to Go

Operation Food Pyramid: Day 1 Report

* Day 1 didn't suck. In all honesty, it was a little easier than I thought it was going to be. Surprisingly, I had enough food to eat, it just wasn't what I wanted to eat. For example, those cookies to the left? Yeah, they're not on the Food Pyramid.

* Secrets to Success: Eat often. I scheduled my breakfast at 8 a.m., mid-morning snack at 10 a.m., lunch at noon, mid-afternoon snack at 2 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and evening snack at 8 p.m. I felt fine until late afternoon, around 4-ish. So, I suffered for awhile, realized the pains weren't going away and ate part of my 8 p.m. snack around 5 p.m. No worries.

* I was pleasantly surprised to see that a cup of rice (2 servings of grain) is sufficient and that when mixed with one cup broccoli and 2 oz. of chicken is not a bad meal.

* I fought the urge for chocolate, but have decided that keeping Hershey's Kisses on hand might be necessary. I do get 197 discretionary calories a day, so there.

* I did feel pretty run down after dinner, but I am going to chalk that up to the heat. I can't handle the heat.

* Verdict: All in all, not bad. Am interested to see how today plays out.

My absolute favorite thing right now (besides eggs) are almonds.

Apparently, they are VERY good for you.

Maybe a good snack idea for you?

Good luck!
