That's How I Roll

I broke out my Rollerblades for what may have been the first time in about six years last night. And I'm alive to tell about it!

I used to fake rollerblading OK. Back home, I rollerbladed through town and the park with my friends and on occasion participated in a little roller hockey. In college, I rollerbladed all over BG and BGSU's campus and didn't break anything.

But I'm not as fit as I used to be and, as I learned last night, not as confident as I used to be. But, I made it around the track twice (for a total of 1.2 miles!) and am looking forward to trying it again. With B. willing to help me stop and turn, I could become a pro!

Shall I tell you about my first rollerblading (in public) experience?

I'm 17. I'm a college freshman. It's "orientation" weekend. I meet a cute little friend who was an olympic gymnast (thereby has amazing balance and muscle abilities) and she asks me if I want to rollerblade.

I have a pair. Why? Because I thought, "I'm going to college. College-aged people rollerblade. I will learn to rollerblade and become a legit college student."

Little gymnast friend invites hot guy who's a boatload of fun. We all three take off. On our hilly campus.

I fall on my head. Once.

So embarassed.

I fall. On my head. Again.

I give up and go home.

I still have NO idea where my rollerblades are.
