Stop, Drop and Roll!

As part of our dining room renovation, we've accumulated piles and piles of wood slats. (The slats held the plaster onto our walls.)

Since the wood is more than 80-years-old and splintery, there was no way I was going to take the nails out of hundreds of slats so that the trash collector would take it, so we decided to burn it.

The first burning session took place for about 5 hours yesterday. In our poor little chimenea.

In hindsight, we probably should have let the poor thing rest, but it was great to have a fire! It was so nice to stand around outside and let Devo play outside while we burned the wood. It did almost feel like a waste since we didn't have any hotdogs or marshmallows, though!

Being able to have a fire outside means spring (and camping with real fires!) is just around the corner!
